I'm always ...You're making me laugh, Becky. I'm always urging Sister Mary to read a book I want to read, because I value her opinion. We don't always agree on books, but often we do.

Sister, I think you'd stay true to the spirit of cleaning up your TBRs if you listened to the audiobook of Special Topics rather than read the book itself. You could turn the cover of the book to the wall while you do. I wonder, though, if you'd like it. The Harry Quebert book got on your nerves, and Special Topics, Pessl's first novel, might irritate you, too. I read it when it first came out. Blue is annoying, and you might think all the book's quirkiness is too consciously calculated, and its excesses (similes, digressions, navel gazing) are too much.

I understand that Maine is due for another big snowstorm, so I would rule out Littell's book for now. Stalin's company might not be what you want when you sit down for hot chocolate, cookies, and a book after two hours of shoveling snow. You'll get to Ostland sooner or later. Can Rankin's Malcolm Fox be as much fun as his Rebus? Cyril Hare's Tragedy at Law isn't quite An English Murder, but watching how the circuit court works is fun, and so is watching the growing travails of Judge Barber and his ambitious wife. I think this is a candidate for reading now.Georgette Spelvinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13853710671433406351noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3566219501850777383.post-79006106346946524082015-02-09T11:10:24.059-05:002015-02-09T11:10:24.059-05:00Hi Becky,

Would that be unfair to the book on the shelf?Sister Mary Murderoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13721665989818474295noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3566219501850777383.post-7348249139613900252015-02-09T11:06:53.056-05:002015-02-09T11:06:53.056-05:00I voted Special Topics, mostly because I'm cur...I voted Special Topics, mostly because I'm curious about it myself.
